Life Member Feature: Chris Waring
​
Chrissie re-started her athletics back in 1981 at the age of 38, where she competed in the Christchurch Nationals after 3 months of training and that was the start of a long and still very successful sprinting career.
​
Chris has been to 14 World Masters T&F Championships including an indoors Championship, also one World Masters Games, winning 7 individual and 12 relay medals and also run in 7 Oceania Championships; 8 National Championships and North Island events, winning many many titles and on her travels has set New Zealand age group records in the 60m, 100m, 200m, 400m and also holds multiple AMA records.

Chris has also raced in the Australian National Masters Championships and where she won the women’s “Champion of Champions” sprint event.
​
Chris has also won the NZMA women sprinter of the year on a number of occasions with a percentage of 98.69 for her 60m sprint.
​
Apart from her track performances, Chrissie has been the past Secretary of the AMA. She instigated the NZ achievement awards still used by some centres, has organised health and running related seminars on behalf of the AMA which proved popular and also has arranged sports massage cover for our AMA meetings.
​
Chris is the main person responsible for obtaining sponsorship at our local meetings.
